American Hiking Society
Promotes the interests of hikers and helps preserve the trails that they use.

American Trails
Promotes the planning, development and maintenance of trails on public and private lands.

Izaak Walton League of America
Promotes the protection and preservation of natural resources, has a Save Our Streams initiative.

National Arbor Day Foundation
Trees, Trees, and more trees.  Good for projects that have trees.

Rails to Trails Conservancy
Helps convert abandoned railways to trails.  Like the Paint Creek Trail between Lake Orion and Rochester.

Sierra Club
Promotes responsible use of earths resources and restoration of the environment.

Student Conservation Association
Gives students ages 16-18 expenses paid opportunities to live for a month or more doing conservation projects in the back country.

Tree People
Teaches people how to plant and maintain trees.  Again another tree project organization.
